New York, New York – After dropping a career-high 25 points over the weekend to lead the Panthers to a hard-fought CUNYAC road victory over Kingsborough Community College over the weekend, BMCC men's basketball freshman Khalil Black (Queens, New York) was named CUNYAC Community College Men's Basketball honorable mention as announced by the Conference on Tuesday. The weekly honor is Black's fourth overall as he has captured Conference Rookie of the Week accolades three times this season, with back-to-back nods in December and his first in November.

Black took the Panthers on his back during Saturday's 85-83 road victory in conference action against Kingsborough Community College, dropping a career-high 25 points, with 14 of them coming in the second half for his team-best tied third 20-point effort on the season. The Queens, New York native recorded his eighth straight double-figure game and team-leading tied 12th of the season to go along with a career-best nine field goals made. Black was huge for the Panthers in the second half, scoring the first nine BMCC points of the second half to get their lead to 10, 41-31 at 18:26 on a three-point play and 11, 45-34 at 17:17 on another layup, then helping the Panthers retake the lead for good with a go-ahead three-point play on a hard drive down the left baseline to make it 76-74 with 1:28 remaining.

Black leads the Panthers in three-pointers made (29) and three-pointers attempted (76), connecting on two or more three-pointers in nine of his 16 games this season and is also second on the Panthers in total points (220), scoring average (13.8), field goals made (74), field goals attempted (190), free throws made (43), free throws attempted (56), and steals (24).

The Panthers will look for two straight victories for the first time since last November and their first-ever season sweep of Region 15 opponent Monroe-Bronx tonight at 7 p.m. For more information, visit the BMCC Men's Basketball Schedule Page.
