New York, New York - For the second year in a row, Borough of Manhattan Community College Athletics will recap the year by counting down the Top-10 most memorable moments of the 2019-20 season, with all six sports represented.
Each Top-10 moment voted by our athletics staff will be unveiled, with a recap every Tuesday and Thursday for the next five weeks, culminating with our top moment of the 2019-20 athletic year, which will be released Thursday, September 17th.
No. 10 – Lisa Velasquez buries two goals, and Cadejah McLaren notches her only shutout of the season for Women's soccer's first win of the year 2-0 over Kingsborough
Leading off at No. 10 in our 2019-20 Top-10 Moments is women's soccer who had freshmen forward Lisa Velasquez (Brooklyn, New York) and goalkeeper CadeJah McLaren (Mount Vernon, New York) to record her only clean sheet of the season leading BMCC to their first win of the year, 2-0 against KCC.
Velasquez led the Panthers in goals with five and posted a team-best two two-goal games. The forward was also named All-Region XV Second Team honors.
McLaren was tremendous in net for the Panthers during the 2020 season, posting both her victories in CUNY competition against Kingsborough Community College. She also racked up three double-digit save performances with a career-high 20 stops in Regional play against Suffolk Community College while garnering Second-Team All-Region XV honors at the end of the season.
Velasquez and McLaren are two major impact players that return next season for BMCC women's soccer next season on offense and defense.
