Milltown, New Jersey - The BMCC women's soccer team was defeated 9-1 on the road in non-conference play by Middlesex County College on Sunday evening at David B. Crabiel Park. The Panthers drop to 0-2 on the season, while the Colts improve to 5-3.
The Colts dominated the Panthers in the first half, building a 4-0 advantage that they carried into the halftime break.
Middlesex County College added five more goals in the second half before BMCC added a marker to prevent the shutout in the 83rd minute as freshman Emily Ramon (New York, New York) buried her second goal of the season on a feed from sophomore Yamile Bastidas (Quito, Ecuador) making it 9-1 which the Colts held until the final whistle for the victory.
Freshman goalie Jennifer Reyes (Brooklyn, New York) was outstanding again in the net for the Panthers despite taking the loss, turning away a new career-high 15 saves, including 12 in the first half. Reyes has recorded back-to-back double-digit save efforts in 2024 after stopping a previous career-best 12 shots in the Panther's home opener against FIT.
The Panthers will look for their first win of the 2024 season in a rematch of last year's 2023 CUNY Championship game on Thursday, October 3, against Queensborough Community College at 12:30 p.m. at Pier 40. For more information, visit the BMCC Women's Soccer Schedule Page.
