Womens Soccer Falls To FIT In Home Opener, Reyes Registers A Career-High 12 Saves

New York, New York – The BMCC women's soccer team was defeated by the Fashion Institute of Technology 4-1 on Friday afternoon in Region 15 action at Pier 40. The Panthers dropped to 0-1 (Region XV 0-1), while the Tigers improved to 2-2 (2-2 Region XV).

The Panthers battled hard in their home opener and kept it a game in the first half thanks to an outstanding effort in net by freshman goalie Jennifer Reyes (Brooklyn, New York), who stopped a career-best 12 shots, including nabbing 10 of them in the first half. The Tigers got on the board first in the match in the seventh minute when True Eggers buried a low line drive into the left pocket to make it 1-0. FIT stretched their lead to two goalies in the 38th minute when Lila Montgomery found the back of the cage to make it 2-0 Tigers going into the halftime break.

Eggers notched her second marker of the match from Lila Montgomery in the 61st minute to make it 3-0, then the Panthers got the deficit down to two, 3-1, in the 72nd minute on a beautiful 20-yard blast from freshman Emily Ramon (New York, New York) just got under the crossbar for her first market of the season. The Tigers added more insurance as Eggers completed the hat trick in the 78th minute on a rocket into the left pocket of the net on a second Montgomery assist to make it 4-1, which FIT took to the final whistle for the victory.

The Panthers will look to bounce back this Tuesday, September 24, at 4 p.m. on the road against Nassau Community College in Region 15 action at Mitchell Athletic Complex. For more information, visit the BMCC Women's Soccer Schedule Page.
