Selden, New York - The BMCC women's soccer team was defeated 6-0 by NJCAA Division III No. 4 nationally ranked Suffolk Community College on the road Saturday afternoon. The Panthers drop to 0-4 (0-3 Region XV) while the Sharks improve to 6-1-3 (3-0 Region XV).
Suffolk Community College scored five first-half goals as Cailin Velazquez opened the scoring in the ninth minute from Anastassia Gallego, then Sophia Emr recorded back-to-back markers in the 27th and 30th minute to extend the advantage to 3-0. Briana Alvarez and Lizbeth Rojo had the helpers on both tallies. Velazquez would notch her second goal of the match in the 35th minute off a feed from Ashley Then before Alvarez scored in the 44th minute to give the Sharks a 5-0 lead going into halftime.
The Sharks added one more goal in the 67th minute, unassisted by Jacqueline Garcia-Ay, to make it 6-0 and give Suffolk Community College the victory.
Maeve Arancio made three stops and picked up her fourth victory of the season, while freshman Jennifer Reyes (Brooklyn, New York) registered another career-high between the pipes with 20 saves, with 13 coming in the first half.
