New York, New York | Behind two first-half goals, the BMCC women's soccer team defeated Kingsborough, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon at Kingsborough Athletic Field. With the win, the Panthers improve to 1-1-0 (1-1-0 Region XV) while the Wave drops to 0-2-0 (0-2-0 Region XV).
The Panthers broke through first in the 11th minute when freshman
Lisa Velasquez (Brooklyn, New York) took classmate
Yoselin Garcia's (Corona, New York) feed and put it on the back of the net.
Velasquez added her second unassisted in the 25th minute to give BMCC a 2-0 lead going into halftime.
The Panthers continued their excellent play throughout the second half and kept the Wave off the scoreboard en route to a 2-0 shutout.
Freshman
CadeJah McLaren (Mount Vernon, New York) picked up the victory and her first clean sheet of the season with seven stops.
