Women's Soccer Blanked By FIT At Home on Tuesday, 7-0

Box Score

New York, New York |
Fashion Institute of Technology cruised over the BMCC women's soccer team, 7-0, on Tuesday afternoon at Pier 40. With the loss, the Panthers fall to 1-3 (1-3-0 Region XV) on the season, while the Tigers improved to 2-5 (2-2 Region XV).

The Tigers dominated right off the bat, opening the scoring on the first of three goals by sophomore forward Gabrielle L'Insalata in the fourth minute. L'Insalata's second of the match came four minutes later, in the eighth minute, to extend the Tiger lead to 2-0.

Freshman Gabrielle D'Elia extended FIT's advantage to 3-0 in the 20th minute, before L'Insalata completed her hat trick on a penalty kick in the 28th minute. D'Elia rounded out the first-half scoring with a hat trick of her own, beginning in the 38th minute off a feed from sophomore forward Haley Tarazona, and ending with a marker in the 42nd minute to make it 6-0 at halftime.

FIT had a lot more chances to find the back of the net in the first half, but were unable to - thanks in large part to the play of BMCC freshman goaltender CadeJah McLaren (Mount Vernon, New York), who finished the first half with nine saves.

Freshman Morgan Smith rounded out the scoring on the afternoon in the 66th minute to give the Tigers a decisive 7-0 victory.

McLaren recorded her second double-digit save performance of the season with 14 stops in the match.

The Panthers are back home in two days to take on Kingsborough Community College this Thursday, October 10th at Kingsborough Athletics Field. The opening kickoff is set for 3 p.m. For more information on the matchup visit, the BMCC Women's Soccer Schedule Page.
