New York, New York | Suffolk County Community College coasted over the BMCC women's soccer team, 5-0, on Saturday afternoon at Kingsborough Athletics Field. With the loss, the Panthers finish 2-4 (2-4 Region XV) for the regular season, while the Sharks improve to 5-5 (4-3-0 Region XV).
The Sharks got out the gate quick, opening the scoring 49 seconds into the match on a tally by sophomore forward Mikayla Crosier to make it 1-0. Freshman forward Karla Mejia buried the second of the match in the 10th minute, and sophomore defender Michelle Swinton followed it up in the 15th minute to extend the Sharks lead to 3-0. Fellow upperclassmen Andrea Marca rounded out the scoring in the 33rd minute to give Suffolk County Community College a 4-0 lead at halftime.
The second half featured more of the same, as Swinton added her second of the match in the 72nd minute en route to 5-0 victory.
Freshman keeper
CadeJah McLaren (Mount Vernon, New York) posted a career-high with 20 stops in the match that saw her side outshot 37-2. Emily Deehan recorded one save on the afternoon.
