Box Score 1 Garden City, NY | The Panthers teams traveled to Nassau County on Saturday to take on the Lions in a women's/men's doubleheader. The Lady Panthers made quick work of their Region XV opponent as they cruised to a 32 point victory. In the men's game, the Panthers battled back and forth with the #6 team in the nation, but managed to escape with a 69-66 victory to upset the defending regional champions.
In the blowout victory,
Ashley Brooks was a dominant force on both ends of the court, the sophomore led the team with 17 points, 18 rebounds and 3 blocks. Tiannie Hightower racked up 16 points, while her teammates
Nikola Zilakova and
Natalija Dubrovina finished with 11 and 8, respectively.
With a few injuries plaguing the starting lineup, the rest of the team stepped up to upset the Lions. Panther guards
George Keener (19 points, 7 rebounds) and
Terrell Fullerton (16 points, 2 assists) continued to dominate opposing defenses. Meanwhile Ashan Adams continues to improve as the season goes on, after going 5-7 for 10 points against Dutchess, the freshman finished with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Freshmen Moses McRae (4 points, 13 rebounds, 5 blocks) and
Anthony McClean (7 points, 3-3 from the field) came up huge for the team, both setting season high scoring totals to help the Panthers win their 6
th straight game.
BMCC will look to carry the momentum into their next game when they take on the Queensborough Tigers on Tuesday night in their final home game before winter break. Tipoff is set for 5:45pm.
