#PanthersTop10 Moment #7: Women’s Basketball’s Emily Kennedy Posts Back-To-Back Triple Doubles

New York, New York – Borough of Manhattan Community College Athletics will recap the year by counting down the top 10 most memorable moments of the 2023-24 season, with all 13 sports represented. Each Top 10 moment voted by our athletics staff will be unveiled, with a recap every Tuesday and Thursday for the next five weeks. The recap will culminate with our top moment of the 2023-24 athletic year, released Thursday, September 5.

No. 7 – BMCC Women's Basketball's Emily Kennedy Registers Back-To-Back Triple Doubles
The #PanthersTop10Moments of 2023-24 are back with moment No. 7 as BMCC women's basketball's Emily Kennedy (Brooklyn, New York) records back-to-back triple-doubles during the Panther's dominant 80-61 victory over LaGuardia Community College on January 23, 2024.

After becoming the first Panther player in nine seasons since Kristen Merrell to post a triple-double with 16 points, a game-high 10 assists, and 10 rebounds during the Panther's dominant 82-25 over Roxbury Community College on January 20, 2024, Kennedy put on an encore performance in the following contest against the Redhawks in CUNY action. The Brooklyn, New York native continued her historic run in the victory over LaGuardia Community College, scoring 17 points, tying a team-high with 14 rebounds, and snatching a game-best 10 steals. Kennedy also just missed making more program history with a potential quadruple-double by two assists with eight in the contest, also tying for a team-best. The Benjamin Banneker Academy product also helped the Panthers score 80 points twice in a season for the first time since 2000-01 in back-to-back games.

Kennedy, a two-time CUNYAC Community College All-Star and 2023-24 All-Region 15 Second Team selection, put up a team-best four triple-doubles on the season grabbing her third of the season in four games during the Panthers 79-53 victory in CUNY play against Queensborough Community College on January 30, 2024. Kennedy dropped a team-high 23 points while also dishing out a game and career-high 11 assists and grabbing 11 rebounds in the contest and picked up her fourth triple-double on the season in the CUNYAC Semifinals against Kingsborough Community College on February 14, 2024, posting a team-high 25 points, with 14 of them coming in the second half to go along with a game-best 10 steals and grabbing 10 rebounds

The stellar sophomore finished her BMCC women's basketball career as the second player in program history to reach 700 points, finishing second in school history with 705 career points, just five shy of tying the all-time record holder Fanta Sissoko while also ranking in the top ten nationally in three categories, with her 5.5 steals per game116 steals, and 5.5 assists per game being good for secondfourth, and sixth in the country. Her 432 points and 20.6 points per game average were also 11th and 12th in the countryKennedy also ended her career as a Panther in the top three in all-time program history in two other categories, ranking second all-time in school history with 166 career steals and 152 career assists. Her 322 career rebounds are the seventh most in program history, while her team-leading 116 steals and 115 assists are also the second and third most in a single season, while her 432 points are the fourth most.

The Brooklyn, New York product also excelled in the classroom as one of two players to receive 2023-24 CUNYAC Winter/Spring Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll honors.

She will continue her academic and playing career next year at Lehman College.
