New York, New York - The BMCC women's basketball put together a complete effort on Saturday afternoon, exploding for a season-high 82 points and holding Roxbury Community College to single digits all four quarters en route to a dominant 82-25 victory at BMCC Gymnasium in New York, New York. The Panthers improved to 4-10 with the victory, while Roxbury Community College fell to 1-5 with the loss.
The Panthers had four players in double figures for the second time this season, including four of their five starters, with one player posting a triple-double and another registering a double-double. Freshman
Mariah Wigfall (New York, New York) completed the best week of her career with a second consecutive double-double, unloading a career and game-high 23 points, including 13 of them in the second half on a career-high 10-for-16 from the field (63 percent) while snagging a game and career-best 15 steals with eight of them coming in the first half. Sophomore
Emily Kennedy (Brooklyn, New York) continues to hit historical marks this season, putting up the program's first triple-double since
Kristen Merrell did it during the
2014-15 season on November 4, 2014, against Bergen Community College, scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing out 10 assists which were both game highs.
Kennedy's 10 assists were also a new career high.
Freshman
Sheliyah Jackson (Bronx, New York) recorded her fourth double-figure game of the season with 10 points.
Classmate Jania Simmons (Brooklyn, New York) posted her second double-figure game of the season with a career-best tied 10 points of her own.
The Panthers hit the 80-point plateau for the first time since the 2017-18 season when they hit 81 points against Queensborough Community College on February 6, 2018. Freshmen
Stephany Coward (Queens, New York) and Patricia Perez (Brooklyn, New York) had nine and six points off the bench, while classmate
Kamella Ross (Bronx, New York) had six on the afternoon as well.
BMCC shot a season-high 45.1 percent from the field on a season-best 37-for-82 from the field and outscored Roxbury Community College 46-12 in the paint.
Kennedy gobbled up seven steals, and Perez had a career-best six steals, helping the Panthers eat up a season-best 33 steals in the contest.
Jackson had seven rebounds and turned away a game-best tied two shots.
The Panthers had 45 points off of 48 forced Roxbury Community College turnovers, the second most this season. BMCC held Roxbury Community College to 25 points and 12-for-50 from the field, the fewest the Panthers have allowed all season.
After both teams traded the first eight points in the first quarter, the Panthers went off for a 23-4 run to close the period with a Wigfall layin off an offensive rebound with a 27-8 lead. BMCC scored 20 of their first 28 points off of turnovers. The Panthers continued to roll in the second quarter, building their lead to 30, 45-15 on a Simmons jumper with 11 seconds left going into the halftime break.
The Panthers continued to roll in the second half, leading 68-19 after the third quarter and building their lead to its largest of the day 59, 82-23 on a Kennedy jumper with 1:42 remaining and closing it out with an 82-25.
Chrisalida Chaplin led Roxbury Community College in scoring and on the glass on the afternoon with a double-double, hauling down a team-best tied 13 board and scoring a team-high 10 points. Dayls Scott also had a game-best tied 13 rebounds, and Zanya Johnson secured a team-high three steals.
The Panthers will look for two straight victories and a season sweep of CUNYAC opponent LaGuardia Community College at home on Tuesday, January 23, at 5 p.m. at BMCC Gymnasium in New York, New York. For more information, visit the

- Emily Kennedy (Brooklyn, New York) has put up double-digit scoring efforts in all 13 games and 25 straight times dating back to the 2022-23 season, with 26 double-figure games in her last 27 contests.

Wigfall put together an outstanding week for the Panthers during their two contests against Monroe-Bronx last Tuesday and Roxbury Community College on Saturday afternoon, averaging 19.5 points per game, 11.5 steals per game, and nine rebounds per game to go along with three assists and a block.
