BMCC Names Anthony Alfaro To Lead Women's Basketball Program

New York, New York - Anthony Alfaro has been named the next head women's basketball coach at Borough of Manhattan Community College. Alfaro will be a head coach in NJCAA competition for the second time after serving as the head coach of LaGuardia Community College women's basketball program from 2013 to 2017. During his tenure with the Redhawks, he led them to the postseason multiple seasons including a CUNYAC Conference Championship and Region XV semi-final appearance.  He also earned the honors of CUNYAC Coach of the Year and Region XV Coach of the Year during his time at the helm of the Redhawks program.
 
"I am very excited for Anthony Alfaro to take over the Women's Basketball program and return it back to its prominence within the CUNYAC and the Region as a whole," said Matthew Ruiz, Director of Athletics & Recreation at BMCC. "Coach Alfaro's proven ability to recruit qualified student-athletes has been evident throughout his coaching career. I am confident that Coach Alfaro will get BMCC Women's Basketball back to where it belongs!"
 
Alfaro arrives at BMCC from SUNY Old Westbury in Long Island, NY. He served as an assistant for the Panthers women's basketball program for the 2023 season. 
 
Before that stop, Alfaro was the Head Coach at Five Towns College for the Women's Basketball team from 2019 to 2022, where he built a program that resulted in the programs 1st and only HVIAC Championship and a trip to the National Tournament.

Alfaro is a Queens, NY,  native with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting from St. John's University.
