Emily Kennedy (Brooklyn, New York) picked up her first Rookie of the Week honor after a stellar debut last Tuesday in conference action against Bronx Community College, as announced by the conference on Monday.
Laffitte continues to build on his outstanding freshman campaign playing a crucial part in the Panther's two CUNYAC victories last week
against Bronx Community College at home Tuesday night, 87-56, and
Hostos C.C. on the road 100-91 on Thursday night to keep them perfect in conference play.
The New York, New York native posted his best effort of the year in the Panther's first victory over Hostos Community College since the 2019 CUNYAC CC Men's Basketball Championship and first time in the regular season since the 2017-18 campaign.
Laffitte turned up the heat in the second half against the Caimans to put up 18 of his career-high 23 points for his second straight double-figure scoring effort while missing a second straight double-double by one rebound with nine. He also got in done on defense with three steals and a block in the contest.
The Leman Manhattan High School product opened the week with the first double-double of his career, scoring 11 points and hauling down a team-best 10 rebounds in a dominant 31-point blowout of the Broncos.
Kennedy made an immediate impact in her first two games of the 2022-23 season with an excellent debut against Bronx Community College with a team-high 12 points and eight rebounds while recording a game-high in steals with eight. She also tied a team-best in assists with three while following up that performance with a game-high five steals against #1 ranked Hostos Community College on the road Thursday evening.
Laffitte is averaging 13.3 points per game, 7.5 rebounds per game, and 2.5 steals per game during the Panther's four-game winning steak while he is also second in rebounds (60) and rebound average (6.7 RPG) and his 12.2 points per game average are third.
In just two games,
Kennedy is averaging 8.5 points per game and 6.5 steals per game while grabbing 3.5 rebounds per game and handing out three assists per contest.
Both squads head on the road tomorrow, December 13, to battle Region 15 foe Suffolk County Community College in a doubleheader at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Brookhaven Gymnasium in Selden, New York. For more information, visit the
