New York, New York | The City University of New York Athletic Conference announced its 2019-20 Community College Men's Basketball All-Star selections on Thursday, voted upon by the league's head coaches. Sophomore Terrance McBride (Brooklyn, New York) and Malik Bentinck (Queens, New York) were both selected as CUNYAC All-Stars for the first time in their career.
During his only season at BMCC, McBride led all Panther scorers in points (516) and points per game (21.6), while both totals were also fourth-most in BMCC single-season history. The Brooklyn native concluded his Panther career with a team-high 23 double-figure games in 24 contests to go along with a team-best four 30-point performances on the year. He also finished second on the squad with eleven 20-point games and moved into 11th in program history with 516 career points passing Brandon Herriot. McBride also finished tops on BMCC this season in assists (109) and steals (46), while finishing second in rebounds (119).
In his debut season for the Panthers, Bentinck was a machine on the glass leading BMCC with 11.7 rebounds per game and a team-high 17 double-doubles in 24 games. The Queens native hauled down 280 total rebounds, which was fourth-most at BMCC in a single-season and ninth overall in school history. Bentinck ripped down a career-high 25 rebounds against Bronx Community College on Dec. 10, which was two shy of the BMCC's single-game record of 27 set by Jericho Cherisma on Jan. 21, 2017, vs. Dutchess Community College. Bentinck also achieved the Panther's first 20 rebound game in two seasons since forward Viktor Kovacevic did it back on Jan. 20, 2018.
He was also a scoring force on the hardwood, recording a team-best twelve 20-point games and scoring in double-figures 22 times in 24 games, which was good for second on the team. Bentinck also racked up 438 total points during the 2019-20 campaign, which was seventh-most in BMCC single-season history and 20th overall in school history. His best performance came against Bronx Community College on Dec. 10, 2019, with a career-high 30 points.
