New York, New York - The City University of New York Athletic Conference announced its award winners for the previous week of action today, Wednesday, October 12, and BMCC men's soccer swept the Weekly Awards. Sophomore forward Elhadji Ady Gaye (Dakar, Senegal) garnered Player of the Week accolades, and freshman forward Lucas Amato (Queens, New York) grabbed Rookie of the Week honors. This is Ady Gaye's second Player of the Week honor after receiving it once during the 2019 season, while it's the first conference weekly award for Amato.
Ady Gaye put up a solid week, leading the Panthers to a 2-1 record during their three matches, posting three goals and an assist for seven points. Ady Gaye started off the week with a bang burying three goals for his first career hat trick and third career multi-goal game in a dominant 6-1 rout of Dutchess C.C. last Tuesday, then dished out an assist by Mouhamed Nasr (Brooklyn, New York) on an insurance goal during a huge 3-0 Region 15 victory over Westchester Community College.
He currently leads the Panthers with 12 shots on goal and is second in points and goals with 15 and six, while his three assists are tied for second on the team.
Amato provided two assists, with one of them coming on the game-winning goal in a 6-1 victory against Region 15 opponent Dutchess C.C. His two assists are tied for third on the team.
The Panthers look to finish their 2022 regular season on a three-game winning streak as they head to Suffolk County Community College on Thursday, October 13, for a big-time Region 15 battle at 4 p.m. in Seldon, New York. For more information, visit the BMCC Men's Soccer Schedule.
