BMCC Men's Soccer Blanks Westchester C.C., 3-0 In Home Finale

New York, New York - The BMCC Men's soccer team registered a vital bounce back in their home finale, netting two first-half markers to pull away from Westchester C.C. 3-0 in Region 15 action on Saturday afternoon at Pier 40. The victory gets the Panthers back to .500 at 5-5 (Region XV 4-4), while the Vikings fall to 6-7 (6-3 Region XV).

BMCC broke the scoreless tie in the third minute as freshman Carlos Auquilla (New York, New York) placed a beautiful cross into the penalty area that found the head of classmate James Bae (Brooklyn, New York) for his first marker of the season to make it 1-0. The Panthers nearly made it a two-goal game six minutes later as a blast from freshman Ademola Opesanwo (Bronx, New York) rang off the iron. Then Panther team captain Bodrul Alam (Bronx, New York) was denied on another opportunity by Westchester Community College goalie Israel Pardo on a free kick.

The Vikings would have three scoring chances after, but Alabdiel Hernandez slid one wide left while also being denied alongside teammate Brian Cifuentes by freshman goalie Abdul Mumin Seidu (Bronx, New York). The Panthers would extend their lead to two in the 19th minute as Mouhamed Nasr (Brooklyn, New York) took a beautiful feed from Elhadji Ady Gaye (Dakar, Senegal) and rolled into the low left pocket to make it 2-0. BMCC went into the half with a 2-0 result despite being outshot by Westchester C.C. 13-5 in the first half.

Neither team would make much of a dent early in the second half. Westchester Community College's best chances to slice the two-goal deficit to one came in the 74th minute as Exon Umanzor was denied on a breakaway down the right wing, and Michael Echeverria's opportunity was turned away. The Panthers would add some insurance in the 82nd minute when freshman Tyreece Parboosingh (Bronx, New York) followed up his second shot off a rebound and buried it in the back of the cage for his first goal of the season to lead BMCC to a 3-0 victory.

The Panthers outshot the Vikings 12-10 in the first half but were outshot 23-17 overall in the match.

Seidu made seven saves to pick up his team-leading fourth clean sheet of the season, while Pardo stopped six in the match and took the loss.

The Panthers head on the road for their final two regular-season matches beginning Tuesday, October 11, against Region 15 opponent Orange County Community College at 4 p.m. in Middletown, New York. For more information, visit the BMCC Men's Soccer Schedule.
