NEW YORK, NY - Men's Soccer extended their unbeaten streak to 3 straight games following a 8-0 blowout of Orange County Community College. Offensively, the Panthers came out aggressive, with 4 goals in the first 20 minutes coming from
Waseem Mohamed (Bronx, New York), Aiolos Zervas (New York, New York), and Roje Richards (Bronx, New York). Waseem got it started with a goal at the 8:48 mark following a great pass from
Angel Munoz (New York, New York). Following a foul in the box, the Panthers Zervas lined up for a penalty kick and found the back of the net extended the lead to 2-0. Less than 2 minutes later, Roje scored his first goal of the 1st half off a well placed cross from
Chris Leon (New York, New York) upping the lead to 3 goals. Richards and Mohamed each added another 1st half goal which saw the Panthers enter the half with a commanding 5-0 lead.
The second half was much of the same, as the Panthers continued to pressure the Colts from Orange County, and in the 59th minute the Panthers would extend their lead to 6-0 on a goal from
Boubacar Barry (Brooklyn, New York) assisted by
Gabriel Querevalu (Queens, New York). Barry returned the favor 9 minutes later as he found a streaking Querevalu, who buried the 3rd goal of his freshman campaign, for a 7-0 Panther lead. The game would continue for only another 6 minutes, when Richards found the back of the net with an unassisted goal, which completed the 1st hat trick of his collegiate career, and gave the Panthers a 8-0 win!
The Panthers (5-3-2 Overall, 2-0-1 CUNY) will return to the pitch on Thursday, October 9th, when they host LaGuardia Community College at Pier 40 starting at 12:30pm. With a win, the Panthers will clinch a spot in the CUNY Championship Game!
