Box Score 1 Brooklyn, NY | BMCC basketball was in action on Tuesday night with the men's and women's teams traveling to Kingsborough to take on the Wave in a CUNYAC showdown. Both BMCC teams were looking to replicate their success after coming out on top in their only previous matchup against the Wave this season. In the first game of the night, the women's team jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as they cruised to a 69-20 victory. In the men's game, Kingsborough held BMCC to 33% shooting from the field while taking control of the boards to beat the Panthers 91-70.
Lady Panthers guard
Malaysia Morton recorded 22 points in the lopsided win over the Wave, the sophomore shot 3-for-6 from behind the arc on her way to a season-high in scoring. Freshman
Nikola Zilakova finished with 15 points for the second consecutive game, while
Ashley Brooks and
Jehosheba Foster both ended with 9. With the win, the Lady Panthers move to 9-3 and remain tied for second in the conference with a 5-2 record against CUNYAC teams.
On the men's side, the backcourt duo of
George Keener (22 points) and
Jason Mejia (21 points) provided a majority of the scoring for the Panthers, with freshman
Anthony McClean adding on with 9 points. Following the loss, the Panthers will be back in action at home on Thursday to take on the Rockland Hawks. Due to the cancellation of the women's game, tipoff for the men's game has been moved to 7pm.
