Box Score NEW YORK, NY| The Borough of Manhattan Community College men's basketball team defeated Union County College 80-56 on Thursday evening in the Panthers' first home game of the 2014-15 season. WIth the win, BMCC improves to 2-0 on the season while Union falls to 0-3.The Panthers took the lead 37 second into the match and never gave it up. Their biggest lead came at 8:48 of the second half when they held a 32-point lead. Freshman Neil Viera and sophomore Joseph Ojo led the way for BMCC, with the former scoring 22 points and two steals and the latter notching 17 points, three assists and three steals.
Freshman Kenneth Coar Jr. reached double digits (10) in scoring as well and sophomore big-man Akeem Williams had six points, 10 rebounds, three steals and two blocks.
Union's Tyrel Davis led his side with 14 points and seven rebounds.
BMCC got the better of its opponent in the paint (42-30), on turnovers (21-15) and on the break (17-15). The Panthers' bench also scored 18 points compared to Union's two.
