Panthers Defeat Broncos

New York, N.Y. - The BMCC Panthers defeated CUNYAC rival Bronx Community College 80-63 Tuesday night, snapping a four game losing streak.

The Panthers (5-10, 2-4 CUNYAC) were led by a balanced scoring attack with four players in double figures. Brandon Herriot led the way with 16 points, on 3-of-5 shooting from 3-point land and Michael Hussein chipped in with 14 points. Hasan Mati scored 11 points and Tim Pandolfi had 10.

The Broncos (11-5, 3-2 CUNYAC) were led by Kevin Vanderpool's game-high 19 points. Stephen Wilson scored 16 points and Abdel Peguero had 10.

After falling behind 9-8 only four minutes into the game, the Panthers never trailed again. They led 42-28 at halftime. The Broncos mounted a comeback to cut the lead to 52-48 with 11:20 to go but the Panthers went on a quick 8-0 to increase the lead to 11 and never looked back.

The Panthers return to action Thursday, January 16th when they take on Bergen Community College. Tip-off is 7:30pm.
