Panthers Defeat Broncos...Extend Winning Streak to 3

The BMCC men's basketball team improved to 3-1 in CUNY Athletic Conference play and 5-4 overall after a 76-70 victory against the Broncos of Bronx Community College on Saturday afternoon.  BMCC had three players score in double figures Taishaun Jenkins(Sophomore, Brooklyn, NY) led the Panthers with 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Additionally, Christian Best(Sophomore, Brooklyn, NY) added 12 points  to go along with his team-high 6 assists.  Valon Djombalic(Sophomore, Brooklyn, NY) recorded his 2nd straight, and 4th overall, double-double on the season finishing with 12 points and 15 rebounds.
 
The Panthers got off to a quick start behind the play of Hasan Mati(Freshman, Brooklyn, NY).  The Freshman, who drained his first three attempts from the field including two 3-point baskets, scored a quick 8 points as the Panthers took a 12-2 lead with 15:41 remaining in the 1st half.  BMCC took their largest lead of the day with 8:47 remaining in the first half as they pushed the lead to twelve(26-14) behind the hot-shooting of Jenkins and Best and eventually entered the half with a 38-33 lead.  Despite the early deficit, the Broncos fought back to tie the game up at 66 piece with exactly 5 minutes remaining in the game following a succesful lay-up and went to the line with a chance to take their first lead of the game.  The Broncos were not able to convert the coventional three-point play as the game remained tied at 66.  Over the last five minutes of play, the Panthers stepped-up the intensity on the defensive end and finished the game on a 10-4 run to finish off the game with a 76-70 victory.

The Panthers will not be in action again until after the New Year's when they will travel to face the Sharks of Suffolk County Community College on Saturday, January 5th in a Region XV match-up.
