Panthers fall to 6th ranked Sullivan CC

Box Score

The BMCC Panthers Men's Basketball team played host to Generals of Sullivan County Community College, the #6 team in the nation, in front of a raucous crowd as they looked to secure their second win in regional competition and second overall to start the season.  BMCC played competively in the first half keeping the game within striking distance behind the play of Valon Djombalic(Sophomore, Brooklyn, NY) and Andre Bailey(Freshman, New York, NY).  Valon paced the Panthers with his 8 first half points to go along with 4 rebounds and 2 block shots.  Andre added two clutch first half 3-pointers and the Panthers went into the locker room trailing the Generals by a score of 30-21.  The Panthers stormed out of the locker room and opened the second half on a 13-4 run which was punctuated when Michael Hussein(Freshman, Staten Island, NY) drove to the basket and drew a foul on the Generals defensive converting on a conventional three point play and deadlocking the game at 34 a piece with 14:10 to play.  The Panthers were never able to take the lead from the Generals who behind the play of Bobby Jones, 16 points on 6-10 shooting including 2-5 from downtown, were able to slowly pull away from BMCC and finish the game outscoring the Panthers 27 to 13 in route to a 61-47 victory.

With the loss, the Panthers drop to (1-1 overall, 1-1 conference) and will now travel to Suffern, NY to take on the Falcons of Rockland Community College this Tuesday, November 20th at 7pm in a Region XV match-up.
