New York, New York - After two outstanding individual performances last week, BMCC women's cross country runner Lea Reimer (Paderborn, Germany) and women's soccer goalkeeper Jennifer Reyes (Brooklyn, New York) received Panther Player of the Week honors.
Reimer added another piece of hardware to her display case yesterday, posting a top-20 finish and medaling in the women's 5K at the Queensborough Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park. The Paderborn, Germany native finished 11th out of 145 competitors from NCAA and NJCAA institutions, crossing the tape with a time of 23:14.0 and picking up her sixth career medal as a member of the BMCC Cross Country and Track and Field program. Two of her six career medals are for being the program's first-ever USTFCCCA All-American (United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) selection and CUNY Cross Country Community College Individual Champion.
Reyes posted a new career-high in net for the Panthers last Saturday against NJCAA Division III No. 4 nationally ranked Suffolk Community College, stopping a career-high 20 shots, including 13 of them in the first half. The Brooklyn, New York native has posted three double-digit save performances in four matches for BMCC this season.
Reimer suits back up for the women's cross country team this Sunday, October 13, at 11 a.m. at the Mt. St. Mary College Invitational at Hudson Valley Sports Dome in Milton, New York. Reimer posted a top 10 finish out of 117 runners at the 2023 Mt. St. Mary Knight Invitational last year in her first-ever collegiate race.
Reyes and the BMCC women's soccer team will look for their first win of the 2024 season tomorrow, Tuesday, October 8, against Region 15 opponent Queensborough Community College in Bayside, New York, at 3:30 p.m.
