New York, New York - After leading their squads to key victories last week, BMCC men's soccer's Idrissa Sanogo (Cote D'Ivoire, Ivory Coast) and women's volleyball's Kavana Liburd (Queens, New York) earned Panther Player of the Week accolades.

Sanogo registered his first two goals of the season last week against two ranked opponents in NJCAA Division III No. 5 ranked Nassau Community College and No. 8 ranked Kingsborough Community College. The Cote D'Ivoire, Ivory Coast native, netted his first marker of the season in the 58th minute to get the Panthers within one goal of Nassau in a hard-fought 2-1 loss. He followed up that effort over the weekend with the equalizer in the 43rd minute against the Wave, which was the first of three straight goals during a 3-1 victory. Sanogo's effort last Saturday also helped the Panthers knock off their second-ranked opponent of the season. Sanogo is second on the team with four assists, third with eight points, and tied for third with two goals.

Liburd played a major role in helping the Panthers get revenge on Region 15 opponent Kingsborough Community College to earn a split during the Panther's first Regional road Double Dual of the season. The Queens, New York native dished out 59 assists total in the Panther's three matches last week and averaged 6.44 assists per set, including back-to-back 20-assist performances during BMCC's road double dual on Saturday. Liburd registered a team-high 21 assists during the Panther's straight-set sweep of the Wave, and a game-high 28 assists against Queensborough Community College. Liburd has put together an outstanding freshman season, moving past Emmanuella Aurel (Port Au Prince, Haiti) and  Medina Lukolic (New York, NY) to become the 14th all-time in career assists with 179, which is also tops on the Panthers.

The BMCC men's soccer team will look for two straight wins and remain perfect at home this season on Tuesday, October 1, against Region 15 opponent Dutchess Community College at 12:30 p.m. at Pier 40. The BMCC women's volleyball team will look for the season sweep against Region 15 opponent Bronx Community College on Thursday, October 3, at 6 p.m. at BMCC Gymnasium.
