New York, New York - After leading the Panthers to their first national ranking since the 2000s and a third straight Conference championship, freshman Sebastien George (Brooklyn, New York) received CUNY Rookie of the Year accolades. George is the second straight Panther men's soccer player to grab the honors after Mamadou Diallo (Conakry, Guinea) was tabbed during the 2023 season.
George is the sixth Conference Rookie of the Year in program history.
The Brooklyn, New York native had a stellar debut season for the Panthers, tying for first in goals with nine, the ninth most in a single season, while ranking second on the team with 22 points and third with four assists.
Five of George's nine goals this year were against NJCAA Soccer Division III ranked opponents, with one each against No. 7 Ulster County Community College and No. 8 Kingsborough Community College, along with three tallies versus No. 8 Westchester Community College. 11 of his 22 points were against ranked opponents this season.
George recorded a point in six out of his last seven games, helping lead BMCC to 10 wins and a Region 15 semifinals appearance for the first time in four seasons.
George assisted on the game-winning goal in the 60th minute and scored an insurance goal in the 79th minute to lead the Panthers to a
2-0 victory over Ulster Community College in the Region 15 quarterfinals.
George's top performance of the season came against No. 8 Westchester Community College, where he posted his first career hat trick during a 5-1 victory, earning him NJCAA Division III Offensive Player of the Week honors. He also helped the Panthers rise to as high as No. 9 in the final NJCAA Division III Men's Soccer poll.
