Men’s Soccer Upends NJCAA Division III No. 7 Ranked Ulster C.C., 2-1 At Home

New York, New York - The BMCC men's soccer team put together their most complete performance of the season on Thursday afternoon, knocking off NJCAA Division III No. 7 nationally ranked Ulster County Community College 2-1 at Pier 40. The victory improved the Panthers to 3-2 (3-2 Region XV), while the Senators fell to 3-2-1 (3-2-1 Region XV) with the loss.

The Panthers got to work fast, grabbing a golden opportunity early in the second minute as a fortunate bounce came on the left foot of freshman Salim Anas (Bronx, New York), but he would air mail it over the crossbar and keep the match scoreless. BMCC continued to dominate the possession and held a 9-2 advantage on corners the rest of the first half before finally breaking through with the first marker of the match. Freshman Sebastien George (Brooklyn, New York) a beautifully placed ball on a corner that found the head of sophomore Assay Mouhamadou Ndiaye (Dakar, Senegal) in the 43rd minute to give BMCC a 1-0 lead going into halftime.

George helped BMCC grab some much-needed insurance in the 55th minute as he took an excellent left-wing feed from classmate Brandon Leon (New York, New York) and booted a right-footed rocket into the bottom right pocket of the net to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead. Ulster County Community College would cut the lead to one, 2-1, on a penalty kick goal by Andrew Foster in the 74th minute.

The Panthers held off a final surge from the Senators as freshman goalkeeper El Momar Coundoul (Bronx, New York) made a career-best nine stops for his third victory of the season to lead BMCC to a 2-1 upset victory.

The Panthers will look to secure back-to-back victories on Saturday, September 21, when they travel to face Rockland Community College at 1 p.m. in Suffern, New York. For more information, visit the BMCC Men's Soccer Schedule.
