Charlotte, North Carolina – After posting his second shutout of the season and registering his ninth victory on the year for NJCAA Division III No. 9 ranked Borough of Manhattan Community College 2-0 over Ulster Community College last week in the Region 15 quarterfinals, Panthers freshman goalkeeper El Momar Coundoul (Bronx, New York) was named NJCAA Division III Goalkeeper Of The Week as announced by the NJCAA on Wednesday.

The honor is the first for Coundoul and the second this season for the Panther's men's soccer program after Sebastien George (Brooklyn, New York) earned NJCAA Division III Offensive Player Of The Week honors a couple of weeks ago. Coundoul is also the second straight Panthers goalkeeper to receive National Goalkeeper of the Week honors after Abdul Mumin Seidu (Bronx, New York) grabbed the accolades last season.

Coundoul played a vital role in the Panther's 2-0 Region 15 quarterfinals victory over the Senators, tying a career-high with nine saves, including five of them coming in the first half to keep it a scoreless game at halftime after BMCC was outshot 16-9 in the opening period. The Bronx, New York native made a huge stop in the seventh minute to keep it deadlocked at zero when he turned Ulster's Imari Harris's left-footed blast from just outside the goal box.

Coundoul won his fourth straight match last Saturday and has stopped 14 of the last 15 shots he has faced. He is also 16th in the country with a 1.07 goals against average.
