Bronx, New York – The BMCC Men's Cross Country team made major strides in the program's second-ever appearance in the CUNYAC Cross Country Championships as sophomores
Tatenda Chikanyairo (Fort Lee, New Jersey) and
Trent Santoro both registered both registered top 20 finishes and helped the Panther's grab second place overall on
a wet and soggy Sunday afternoon at Van Cortlandt Park. The Panthers were finally able to qualify with five runners lacing it up and finished with a score of 42 behind defending Men's Champion Queensborough.
Chikanyairo posted a career-best finish of 16th, crossing the tape with a time of 31:57.3, while Santoro registered his second straight top 20 in the event with a time of 32:18 and a 17th Place finish. Santoro finished 16th last year at the 2022 CUNYAC Championships.
Freshman
Amil Bermejo (Brooklyn, New York) followed behind, finishing 28th with a time of 34:50.8, and sophomore
Michael Sing (Brooklyn, New York) and freshman
Weerlens Valmont rounded it out for the Panthers with times of 39:20.9 and 41:15.3.
