New York, New York – After setting a single-game program record over the weekend, BMCC women's volleyball sophomore setter Xheni Doci (Saluzzo, Italy) received CUNYAC CC Women's Volleyball Player of the Week accolades on Tuesday, as announced by the conference. The honor is her first of the season and the first for the Panther women's volleyball program since Yolireisi Pichardo got the nod on September 25, 2018.
During the Panther's two games last week, Doci spearheaded the BMCC offensive attack from the service line, dropping 24 service aces in her two matches against Passaic County Community College and conference play against Bronx Community College. After just three service aces in a straight-set opening loss to Passaic County Community College, she exploded on the road over the weekend against CUNYAC and Region 15 opponent Bronx Community College with 21 service aces, a new single-game program record, with 10 of them coming in the first set. Her efforts led the Borough of Manhattan Community College women's volleyball team to their first win of the season in straight sets over the Broncos.
Doci's 21 service aces surpassed Jennifer Chacon's previous mark of 15 registered against Sullivan County Community College on September 29, 2018. Doci currently leads the Panthers with 24 service aces and 36 assists after last night's matchup at home against Raritan Valley Community College.
