Doci Sets Single Game Program Record For Service Aces As Women's Volleyball Picks Up First Win Of 2022

The Panther's 33 Service Aces tied for second-most in a single game on Saturday afternoon

Bronx, New York - Behind sophomore Xheni Doci's (Saluzzo, Italy) new single program record of 21 service aces, 10 of them coming in the first set, the Borough of Manhattan Community College women's volleyball team cruised to their first win of the season in straight sets (25-0, 25-5, 25-4) over Bronx Community College on the road Saturday afternoon at Alumni Gymnasium. The Panthers improve to 1-1 (1-0 CUNYAC) while the Broncos drop to 0-4 (0-2 CUNYAC).

Doci's 21 service aces surpassed Jennifer Chacon's previous mark of 15 registered against Sullivan County Community College on September 29, 2018. The Panther's 33 service aces also tied for second-most in a single game equaling a mark set against the Broncos on September 12, 2015.

Five different BMCC players recorded a kill in the match. Freshmen Emmanuella Aurel (New York, New York) and Josanne Lewis (Rochester, Minnesota) led all swingers with a team-high five kills apiece. Doci smacked four, and Cheyenne Gray-Taitt (Harlem, New York) and Garyana Altidor (Queens, New York) had two and one, respectively.

Auriel also placed six service aces in the match while leading the Panthers defensively with three digs.

Bronx Community College was led by Arian Revells, who gathered a team-best four digs and one kill.

The Panthers will look for back-to-back victories in their home opener on Tuesday, September 13 at 6 p.m. at BMCC Gymnasium. For more information, please visit the BMCC Women's Volleyball Schedule Page.
