New York, New York - The National Junior College Athletic Association announced on Wednesday that BMCC freshman goaltender
Abdul Mumin Seidu (Bronx, New York) was recognized as DIII NJCAA Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week for his performance in the Panther's two Region XV matches last week. The honor is the first of
Seidu's career.
Seidu was the rock of the Panther's backline posting the best performance of his career against 2021 Region XV Champion Nassau Community College last Tuesday, stopping a career-high 12 shots. He played a crucial role in keeping it a one-goal game going into halftime, making six of career-high 12 saves in the first half.
He followed up that performance by contributing four stops against Kingsborough Community College over the weekend to help the Panthers pick up a major CUNYAC victory and even their conference record at 2-2.
Seidu is the heart and soul of the BMCC defense, backstopping the Panther defense with team-highs in wins (3), goals-against average (1.27), and save percentage (.783). In addition to leading his team in all three categories, Seidu's goals-against average and save percentage totals are 18th and 25 in the country.
