Panthers Surge Past Tigers with Dominant 6-0 Shutout
NEW YORK, NY - The BMCC Panthers delivered a commanding performance on the pitch, rolling to a 6-0 victory over the Queensborough Community College Tigers behind a relentless offensive attack and stellar goalkeeping. BMCC set the tempo early, controlling possession and taking a solid 2-0 advantage into the halftime break; behind goals from
El Hadj Diallo (Conakry, Guinea) and
Doro Niang (Dakar, Senegal). The momentum truly swung early in the second half when Queensborough earned an opportunity to cut the deficit in half. Panthers goalkeeper
Juan Moreno (Medellin, Colombia) stepped up with a crucial penalty kick save, preserving the clean sheet and denying the Tigers any path back into the match.
Energized by Moreno's stand, BMCC's offense took over. The Panthers erupted for four second-half goals to break the contest wide open. In the 83rd minute, sophomore Angel Munoz (New York, New York) put the finishing touches on the game with a set-piece goal that curved into the upper 90 and sealed an emphatic 6-0 win.
With the win, the Panthers improve to 3-1 overall, 3-1 in conference play. The win also clinched a spot in the CUNY Championship game for the 4th consecutive season.
