New York, New York | This week's "Sophomore Spotlight " is a series of profiles about three women's basketball players from the 2019-20 season, continuing with forward Lauren Malcolm (Bronx, New York)

During her two seasons at BMCC, the Bronx native was dominant on the glass leading the Panthers in rebounding with a career-best 233 total rebounds (12.3 RPG) this season and 187 total rebounds (10.4 RPG) a year ago. The two-time CUNYAC CC All-Star also finished her BMCC career third all-time in school history with 420 career rebounds passing Chidinma Ogueri, while her rebounding mark this year was seventh-most in a single season.

Malcolm finished the 2019-20 campaign on a tear with four straight double-digit rebounding performances, with eight of her team-leading 14 in the second half of the season and team-best tied two 20 rebound games, with a career-high 25 boards against Dutchess C.C. on Jan. 16, 2020. Malcolm also etched her name into the Panther single-game record books against Rockland C.C. on Feb. 8, 2020, teaming up with teammate Shyasia Preston to become the first players in program history to both record 20 points and 20 rebounds in a game. She also racked up a career-high 24 points in the contest.

She also posted a career-best in scoring with 168 points (8.8 PPG) and in steals with 50 while her 80 career steals are tied for seventh in BMCC history, and her 316 career points are 16th in school history passing Ashley Duplan.

During her first year on campus, Malcolm was noticeable from the first BMCC practice and made her presence known on the boards ripping down ten or more a team-best 13 times. In her first career start against 2019 NJCAA National champion Hostos C.C. on Nov. 27, 2018, she grabbed ten rebounds and put up a double-double against them in the second half of the year with 10 points and 12 rebounds on Feb. 15, 2019.

She has also ripped down double-digit rebounds in 27 career contests during her time at BMCC.

Malcolm, a graduate of Aquinas High School in the Bronx, New York, is majoring in Liberal Arts.

Below is a video of head coach Eric Almonte's reflections on their experience together at BMCC:

We thank Lauren for her impact on the BMCC women's basketball program through her contributions on and off the court. We wish her good luck in her future endeavors. #StartHereGoAnyWhere
