Adams-Edwards and Malcolm Selected As 2019-20 CUNYAC All-Stars; Preston Named Burt Beagle Sportsmanship Award Winner

New York, New York | The City University of New York Athletic Conference announced its 2019-20 Community College Women's Basketball All-Stars on Thursday, and BMCC had a total of three individuals honored. Sophomores Autum Adams-Edwards (Brooklyn, New York) and Lauren Malcolm (Bronx, New York) were both selected as CUNYAC All-Stars, and freshman Shyasia Preston (Far Rockaway, New York) received the Burt Beagle Sportsmanship Award. Malcolm receives her second-straight CUNYAC All-Star selection, while Adams-Edwards earned the first of her career.

During her two seasons at BMCC, Adams-Edwards has been the foundation of the Panther backcourt, leading the Panthers this year in points per game (12.7), assists (28), and three-pointers made (19). She also ranked third on the team with 22 steals. Her best performance came against Kingsborough, where she dropped a career-high 26 points back on Jan. 14th.

Her 476 career points rank ninth in school history while finishing tied for twelfth in career assists (75) and seventh in program history in career three-pointers made (52). She scored in double figures 23 times and reached the 20-point mark five times during her career. She scored in double figures 23 times and reached the 20-point mark five times during her career.

Malcolm was the Panther's top rebounder this season, posting a team-and career-best with 12.2 rebounds per game, while hauling down 20 plus rebounds in twice. She ripped down a career-best 25 rebounds back against Dutchess on Jan. 16th and scored a career-high 24 points against Rockland again on Feb. 8th. She also teamed up with Preston to become the first Panther players in program history to record 20 points and 20 rebounds in a single game.

The Bronx native posted double-digit rebounds a team-best 14 times this season and 27 times for her career while registering a team-best five double-doubles this year and nine total for her career. She finished her Panther career third in school history with 420 career rebounds, passing Chidinma Ogueri. 

She also posted career-bests this year in steals (50) and points per game (8.8) and tied for seventh in BMCC history in career steals (80) and ranked 16th in school history with 316 career points, while also earning CUNYAC Rookie of the Week honors last year.

Preston swatted away a team-high eight blocks this season for the Panthers and finished second on the team in rebounds per game (8.9). She also recorded eight double-digit rebound games and three double-doubles, which were good for second on the team, while her 172 total rebounds tied her for 16th in BMCC history with Alexis Hart

Her best scoring performance came in a victory over Rockland Community College back on Feb. 8. when she dropped a career-high 20 points. She is the second straight BMCC player to receive the award after Naya Verley got it last year.
