New York, New York | The CUNY Athletic Conference announced the weekly award for men's basketball on Tuesday, and BMCC freshman Malik Bentinck (Queens, New York) was named the league's Rookie of the Week after his performance during the Panthers' three games last week. It is the second time this season that Bentinck has been honored by the conference, as he was selected Player of the Week back in early December.
Bentinck led the Panthers to three consecutive victories last week, including back-to-back 20-point performances at home on Tuesday against CUNYAC opponent Kingsborough (26 points 12 rebounds) and on the road Thursday versus Dutchess (24 points and 11 FGM, a career-high). The Queens native also brought down 12 rebounds against Kingsborough to complete a span of ten consecutive games with a double-double.
The freshman forward has posted a team-high ten double-doubles on the season and has scored 20-points in seven games this season, which is tied for tops on the team. He is also second on the Panthers with 14 double-figure games.
