Full BMCC Women's Volleyball Schedule
New York, NY | The Borough of Manhattan Department of Athletics announced its 2019 women's volleyball regular-season schedule Wednesday. The Panthers are coming off a third straight trip to the CUNYAC Finals and looking to get over the hump and claim the program's first conference title since 2006.
The 16 match slate includes six CUNYAC contests. BMCC will host eight matches at BMCC Gymnasium and travel away for the other eight.
The Panthers open their season on Saturday, September 7, with a tri-match against Bronx Community College in CUNYAC play at 11:00 a.m. and Fashion Institute of Technology at 12:15 p.m. After a week off, the Panthers square off against three-time defending CUNYAC Champion, Queensborough Community College Tuesday, September 17, at 7 p.m., followed by a non-conference tri-match against Westchester Community College (Noon) and Rockland Community College (1:15 p.m.) on Saturday, September 21.
The next five matches are away from the friendly confines of BMCC Gymnasium, beginning with a CUNYAC matchup against Bronx County Community College on Thursday, Sept. 26th, followed by back-to-back weekends of non-conference tri-matches against Sullivan County Community College (12 p.m.) and Orange County Community College (1:15 p.m.) on Saturday, Sept. 28, in Loch Sheldrake, NY and against Nassau Community College (12 p.m.) and Suffolk Community College (1:15 p.m.) the following Saturday, Oct. 5th, in Seldon, NY.
The regular season concludes with four matches over the span of three days, with two on the road at Kingsborough Community College (Tuesday, Oct. 15) and Fashion Institute of Technology (Thursday, Oct. 17) at 7 p.m., followed by a non-conference tri-match against Dutchess Community College (12 p.m.) and Monroe College (1:15 p.m.) on Saturday, Oct.19th.
The 2019 CUNYAC Women's Volleyball Tournament will take place on Monday, October 21 at Queensborough Community College. On that day, the semifinal matches will feature #1 against #4 and #2 against #3. The CUNYAC Championship match is scheduled for later that evening to determine the conference champion.
The Panthers return several talented sophomores, headlined by
Yolireisi Pichardo (New York, NY), who led the team with 256 kills and finished was second on the team with 197 digs and 51 service aces. Classmates
Nisha Rosario (Constanza, Dominican Republic) led the team in digs with 309 while
Ashley LaSalle (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) led the team with 17 blocks.
