New York, NY | With baseball season right around the corner, five sophomores from the 2018 BMCC team have committed to playing baseball and continuing their education at four year programs. Former BMCC student-athletes

Christopher Nunez,
Matthew Leonte,
Randy Berroa and
Dwayne Thomas have all joined rosters at various schools across the country as they pursue their bachelors' degree.
Kevin Tapia and
Christopher Nunez will remain teammates for their junior season as they both received athletic scholarships to play for Waldorf University in Forest City, Iowa. Panthers middle infielder Nunez earned a spot on the CUNYAC All-Star team by hitting .263 and leading the team in extra base hits in 2018. After starting 54 games for the Panthers in his junior college career, Tapia will handle the catching duties for the NAIA school.
A two way player for the Panthers Leonte started 13 games on the mound or in the field for BMCC last season. The dual-threat pitcher and infielder will remain in the CUNY Athletic Conference as he continues his collegiate career at CCNY.
An outstanding fielder during his two year career at BMCC,
Randy Berroa will join the team at Penn State Greater Allegheny in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. During his freshman season with the Panthers, the outfielder posted a slash line of .261/.417/.413 while starting 19 games.
In his sophomore campaign,
Dwayne Thomas led the Panthers in hits [17] and runs batted in [18] while recording an impressive .309 batting average. The BMCC outfielder will make the transition into the infield when he joins the SUNY Canton Kangaroos for the upcoming season.
