FLUSHING, N.Y. (Oct. 21, 2018) - With the final matches of the season concluding on Saturday, the tournament field for the 2018 CUNYAC/Pepsi Community College Women's Volleyball Championship is now set. Four teams will vie for the title Monday at Queensborough Community College in Bayside.

For the sixth year in a row, Queensborough, the tournament's host, won the CUNYAC regular-season title and clinched the championship's No. 1 seed. The Tigers have lost only one match all year (21-1) and went a perfect 8-0 against league opposition. Queensborough has not dropped a conference match since 2012, reeling off 48 straight victories in the process.

Queensborough will battle fourth-seeded Bronx in the tournament's second semifinal on Monday at 6 p.m. The Tigers swept the Broncos in both regular-season meetings in 2018.

Sophomore outside hitter Paola Beniquez leads the Queensborough attack with 170 kills on a .349 hitting percentage. She has also been exceptional behind the service line, averaging 2.08 service aces per set -- a mark that is tops in NJCAA Division III.

Freshman outside hitter Angelica Aquino has been the staple of the Bronx offense. She has tallied double-digit kills in seven matches this year, including a season-high 18-kill performance against Kingsborough on Sept. 25. Additionally, Aquino has 77 aces to her credit, which is tied for eighth-most in the country.

The first semifinal features No. 2 seed BMCC and No. 3 seed Kingsborough, with first serve at 4 p.m. The Panthers were victorious in both regular-season matches against the Wave, winning 3-1 on Oct. 13 and 3-0 on Oct. 16.

Freshman outside/middle hitter Yolireisi Pichardo has made an instant impact for the Panthers, putting down a team-best 222 kills in 18 matches. Sophomore setter Jennifer Chacon has allocated 369 assists and served 72 aces.

Meanwhile, sophomore outside hitter Estrella Bello leads the Wave with 106 kills and 16 blocks.
