Bronx, NY | After finishing 4
th in the conference during the regular season, the women's volleyball team qualified for the CUNYAC tournament. In their opening round matchup on Monday, they took on the #1 seeded Queensborough Tigers, a team that beat them twice in the regular season.
The Panthers started strong in the first set, battling back and forth until Queensborough eventually pulled away to a 25-10 win. The second set ended in a similar fashion, with the Tigers jumping out to a 15-5 lead before winning 25-13. With the season on the line, the Panthers rallied in the third set to a 21-21 tie, but it was not enough as the Tigers won 25-21.
Kayshawna Richardson led all scorers with 14 kills, while
Kaina Bazard and
Iris Miranda had 9 assists apiece.
Jennifer Santos was all over the court last night, racking up 12 digs while adding on with 3 aces.
With a three game win streak late in the season, it looked like the Panthers could sneak into the regional tournament, but with a 6-12 record in the region, they placed 9
