Panthers Shut Out Caimans

Box Score

Bronx, N.Y. - The BMCC Panthers took on CUNY rival Hostos Community College Wednesday afternoon at Macombs Dam Park. The Panthers won the game 6-0 in their best offensive output of the season.

Itamar Pereira started the scoring off for the Panthers in the 6' to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead. In the 20' Panther of the Week, William Grajales came in and made his presence felt immediately setting up Frank Obeng for an easy goal to make the score 2-0.

Sophomore keeper Irvin Baretto was hardly tested in the 1st half but turned away every shot put on net by the Caimans. Baretto hasn't allowed a goal in the last 165 minutes of action.

The Panthers broke the game open in the tail end of the 2nd half scoring three goals in nine minutes. Drition Selimanjin finally broke through in the 72', after having three 1st half shots stopped. Ilir Papriniku scored on a breakaway six minutes later and then Pereira scored again on a counter attack. Nicholas Sierna capped the Panthers scoring in the 89'.

The Panthers return to action Saturday in another CUNYAC game vs. Kingsborough Community College. The game will be played at Kingsborough as part of a Men's and Women's soccer doubleheader. The women's game starts at 12pm and the men kickoff at 2pm.
