Bayside, New York – BMCC's men's outdoor track and field kicked off their inaugural 2024 season with a bang at the Queensborough Relays on Sunday, headlined by a first-place finish by the men's sprint medley relay team of Christian Davis (Queens, New York), Isiah Duffy (Brooklyn, New York), Emmanuel Agyei (Brooklyn, New York), and Joshua Germain (Brooklyn, New York) while Tatenda Chikanyairo (Fort Lee, New Jersey) became the first runner in school history to qualify for the NJCAA Div. III Outdoor Track and Field Championship in the 10,000-meters. The Panthers men's team competed in six events on the day.
The men's sprint medley relay team's first-place finish was the lead story for the Panthers on the day, clocking in with a time of 4:06.58. Germain, who anchored the unit, made up a ton of ground down the stretch to pass CCNY's Gian-Carlo Riehl for victory.
Michael Sing (Levittown, New York), Ysaia Marte (Bronx, New York), and Chikanyairo posted three top-ten efforts in the 400-meter hurdles, 400-meter, and the 10,000-meter run. Sing and Marte both won their sections with times of 1:10.30 and 55.69 and finished fourth overall. Chikanyairo crossed the finish line in sixth with a time of 37:42.54 to qualify for the 2024 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, beating the qualifying standard for the event of 38:26.71 by 24 seconds.
Trent Santoro (Queens, New York) finished 14th in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:00.21 while Emmanuel Agyei (Brooklyn, New York) finished 15th in the 400 meters, and Germain and Dontate Creedland (Brooklyn, New York) finished 18th and 20th overall in the 100 meter dash with times of 12.59 and 12.69. Kwame Brempong (Brooklyn, New York) and Damon Walters (New York, New York) also competed in the 100 meter dash, clocking in with times of 12.99 and 13.01.
Creedland, Brempong, Marte, and Davis also competed in the Men's 4 x 200 relay, posting a time of 1:43.33.
Duffy also competed in the high jump, tying for seventh overall (1.62m), and Walters in the shot put with a 22' 2.25 (6.76m), finishing 22nd.
