BMCC Panthers Baseball Announces 2024 Schedule

New York, New York – The BMCC Baseball team kicks off its 2024 season tomorrow, Tuesday, March 19, at home against 2023 Region XV Runner-Up Monroe-Bronx.

The Panthers begin their second season under third-year head coach Tommy Beirne with a 24-game slate featuring 12 home contests (with three doubleheaders — two against Region 15 opponents and one against CUNYAC) and 12 road contests (with three doubleheaders-two CUNYAC and one on Regional). BMCC hits the diamond for a four-game set and their first doubleheader of the season against 2022 Region XV Champion and last year's Runner-Up, the Monroe-Bronx Express, squaring off with them at home on Tuesday, March 19, and Friday, March 22, before closing out the week against them on the road on Saturday, March 23. The Panthers open their CUNYAC slate with a four-game set against Queensborough Community College with two single-game battles on the road on Tuesday, March 26, and Friday, March 29, then finishing up at home with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 30.

BMCC concludes a four-game home stand and starts a four-game set against 2023 CUNYAC Community College Championship Runner-Up Bronx Community College with two single home contests on Tuesday, April 2, and Friday, April 5, before concluding the week with a road doubleheader on Saturday, April 6. The Panthers face another massive challenge right after at home on Tuesday, April 9, and Friday, April 12, against 2023 CUNYAC Community College and Region XV Champion Kingsborough Community College, then heading to Brooklyn to end the week for a doubleheader against the Wave on Saturday, April 13. The Panthers will travel to Selden, New York, for a two-game road trip against Suffolk County Community College on Tuesday, April 16, and Friday, April 19. They will return to Bellerose, New York, for a home Regional doubleheader against the Sharks on Saturday, April 20.

The Panthers conclude their regular season with a four-game affair against Nassau Community College, beginning on the road on Tuesday, April 30, and Friday, May 3. They will close the season at home with a Region doubleheader against the Lions on Saturday, May 4.

Twenty-two of the Panther's 24 contests will begin at 3:30 p.m. for single-game road and home contests and noon and 3 p.m. for all six doubleheaders. The first pitch for BMCC's four single-game road battles in Region XV action against Suffolk County Community College and Nassau Community College will be at 4 p.m. The 2024 CUNYAC Community College Baseball Championship title is set for Monday, May 6, at 7:00 p.m. at Maimonides Park in Brooklyn, New York.

The Panthers have seven returning sophomores on the squad and eight total, headlined by a quartet of talent in CUNYAC Preseason Player to Watch Peter Marino (New York, New York), who hit .289 in 13 games played last season, with 13 hits, 11 runs scored, nine runs batted in and eight steals. Marino returns as one of the Panther's top pitchers on the mound after striking out 17 batters in 19.1 innings in six appearances last year.
 
Peter Rodriguez Reyes (Bronx, New York) is the Panther's top offensive threat from a year ago, finishing third in slugging percentage (.444) and runs scored (13) while tying for third in doubles (4). Rodriguez Reyes also batted .315 with 17 hits, seven RBIS, and a home run with five multi-hit games in 21 appearances. 
 
Jeffrey Roldan (New York, New York) drew a team-high 12 walks last year, tying for third in doubles with four. Roldan registered three multi-hit games and scored ten runs in 24 appearances while also leading BMCC on defense with a team-best two double plays and posting 29 strikeouts, which was second on the team in eight appearances on the mound.
 
Adonis Suarez (Queens, New York) batted .333 in 14 appearances last year and had three multi-hit games.
