BMCC Late-Game Surge Secures Win For Panthers

NEW YORK, NY -  The Panthers defeated Dutchess CC by a score of 6-4 on Tuesday after taking the lead late in the game.  BMCC showed great resilience to come back to win despite trailing 4-0 after 3 innings.  Amil Mendez (Bronx, New York) toed the rubber first for BMCC Panthers. Mendez was impressive for the Panthers allowing four hits and four runs over seven innings, while striking out two.  After allowing runs in each of the first three innings, Amil was able to settle down and throw 4 more scoreless innings, allowing the Panthers bats to wake up and take the lead.  Offensively, Jake Torres (Bronx, New York) and Jandier Hernandez (Bronx, New York) each collected two hits for BMCC Panthers. Torres and Christopher Toribio (Bronx, New York) each drove in two runs for BMCC Panthers.  With a 6-4 lead heading into the 8th inning, the Panthers turned to Nolan Armenta to close out the game.  The freshman from Carlsbad, California, tossed two innings of scoreless ball for BMCC in relief. The hurler gave up one hit, striking out two and walking none in route to his 1st save on the season.

With the win, the Panthers improve to (2-15, 1-5) and will look to continue their winning ways when they host these same Falcons on Saturday afternoon, in a Region XV doubleheader.  Game 1 is slated to start at 12pm at Preller Field in Queens, NY.
