New York, New York - The BMCC women's volleyball team was beaten in straight sets on Thursday night by the Fashion Institute of Technology on the road in Region 15 action. The Panthers drop to 6-7 (4-7 Region XV), while the Tiger's fifth straight victory improves their record to 9-2 (8-1 Region XV).

Sophomore Emmanuella Aurel (Port Au Prince, Haiti) smashed a team-high nine kills, while freshman Kavana Liburd (Queens, New York) dished out a team-best 14 assists. Underclassmen Ishinay Lennon (Bronx, New York) placed a team-high two service aces in the match.

Aurel also led the Panthers on defense with a team-high three solo blocks, all of which came in the third set, while freshmen Zoe Gomez (Brooklyn, New York) contributed a career-high two solo blocks, and Jaylynn Mateo (Brooklyn, New York) chipped in on defense with a team-high four digs.  

The Panthers played a competitive first set, registering 10 kills and hitting .333 (10K-5E-15TA), but they fell 25-18 in the end. The Tigers won the next two sets by scores of 25-9 and 25-13 to take the match.

The Panthers head to Suffern, New York, on Saturday, October 12, at noon and 2 p.m. for a Region 15 double dual against Westchester Community College and Rockland Community College. For more information, visit the BMCC Women's Volleyball Schedule Page.

• Emmanuella Aurel (Port Au Prince, Haiti) continues to add to the program's all-time lead in career digs with 528 for her career after tonight's match.
• Aurel is also ninth all-time in program history with 220 career kills and moved into a tie for eighth all-time with Damali Prince in career service aces with 83. Aurel is also seventh all-time in school history with 47 career blocks. 
• Kavana Liburd (Queens, New York) has now dished out a team-best 223 assists, which moves her into 10th place for most in a single season and 11th place all-time in program history. She surpassed Yulia Kuzmina (Petrozavodsk, Russia) and Iris Miranda (Carolina, Puerto Rico) for the all-time and single-season marks for assists.
