BMCC Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track And Field Kicks Off The Program’s First-Ever Season At The Ramapo College Opener

New York, New York - The BMCC men's and women's track and field program finally got the opportunity to lace it up at the Ramapo College Opener at the New Balance Armory on Friday morning.

The Panthers men's and women's programs competed in 11 events on the day, with freshman Lea Reimer (Paderborn, Germany) and Christian Davis (Queens, New York) posting the best finishes on the day, with Reimer being the top finisher from both programs with a 15th place finish in the Women's 3000 meters with a time of 12:58.06. Davis clocked in with a time of 7.84 and 19th place finish in the Men's 60 meters.

Reimer's finish qualified her for the CUNYAC Men's and Women's Track and Field Championships on February 18 at Icahn Stadium.

The Men's 4x400 Meter Relay team finished 20th at 3:51.28 and was the top JUCO team competing, edging out Region 15 opponent Nassau Community College. 

Tatenda Chikanyairo (Fort Lee, New Jersey) competed in the 3000 meters, finishing with a time of 10:36.90 and a 29th-place finish. Trent Santoro (Queens, New York) finished 31st in the Men's 1 mile with a time of 5:24.52, and Kwame Brempong (Brooklyn, New York) clocked in with a time of 8.31 in the 60 meters.

Joshua Germain (Brooklyn, New York) and As Mouhamadou Ndiaye (Brooklyn, New York) competed in the 200 meters, crossing the finish line with times of 24.14 and 25.53, while Michael Sing (Levittown, New York) and Santoro suited up in the Men's 800 meters with times of 2:24.55 and 2:29.79. Peter Rodriguez Reyes (Bronx, New York) debuted in the Men's 400 meters, posting a time of 56.61, while Davis posted a 5.23-meter result in his second event of the day in the Men's Long Jump.

Kylah Hetmeyer (Brooklyn, New York) and Breanna Johnson (Brooklyn, New York) were on the card for the Panthers women's squad in the Women's 200 and 400 meters. Hetmeyer crossed the finish line with times of 32.50 and 1:12.73, while Johnson registered times of 39.53 and 1:35.03.
