New York, New York – After putting up a career-high 20-point scoring performance last week against
Westchester Community College, BMCC women's basketball freshman forward
Sheliyah Jackson (Bronx, New York) was rewarded with CUNYAC Rookie Of The Week honors for the first time of her career as announced by the Conference. The Weekly accolades are the third overall for the Panthers women's basketball program as sophomore Emily Kennedy (Brooklyn, New York) picked up
Player of the Week and Honorable Mention recognition earlier this season.
Jackson turned it on last Tuesday against
Westchester Community College, scoring 18 of her career-high 20 points in the second half while leading the Panthers with a team-best eight boards.
The Bronx, New York native leads the Panthers
with five blocks and a field goal percentage of 52.7 percent while ranking second in six other categories in points (72), scoring average (9.0), (29) field goals made, free throws made (14), rebounds (60), and rebounding average (7.5). She is also second with three double-digit rebound games and two double-doubles on the year.
The Panthers are done with their competition for the 2023 portion of their 2023-24 schedule and get back to it in the New Year against Passaic County Community College on Saturday January 6 at noon. For more information, visit the
