BMCC Esports Week 8 Recap: Rocket League Performs Well In Midseason Invitational and falls in a five-game thriller; Super Smash Brothers Individual Ryan Urena Remains In Second Place In Group 12 Standings

New York, New York – The Borough of Manhattan College Esports program had an impressive showing in the Rocket League midseason invitational over the weekend. Panthers Smash Brothers Ultimate's (One-on-One) Ryan Urena also continued his outstanding play with his seventh victory to position himself for one of the top seeds in Group 12 with the playoffs on the horizon.

On Saturday, the Panther's Rocket League squad Kevin DominguezMichael Singand Victor Paulino Angeles competed in the Rocket League Midseason Invitational, squaring off against a field of 16 teams, including Division I schools Texas Tech and Abilene Christian. The Panthers got off to an excellent start taking their opening match against Daemen University in four games 3-1  before falling to Lander University in the quarterfinals and Central Wyoming College in a five-game thriller 3-2 last Monday. The Panthers Rocket League team returns to action on Monday, April 11, against Northwestern Michigan College.

FIFA 2022 and Madden 2022 individual player Edwin Lema (Queens, NY) dropped both his matchups by a score of 2-0, while Urena continued his strong play in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate by winning his fourth straight match in four games, 3-1 over Catawba Valley.

Lema will be back in action for FIFA 2022 following Monday, April 11 at 8 p.m. against Westchester Community College and Trinidad State in Madden 2022 at 6 p.m.

Smash Brothers Individual Ivan Minaya (New York, NY) was off last week and returns to action this Wednesday, April 12, against Heartland Community College at 6 p.m., and Urena faces off against Mott Community College.
