New York, New York – The Borough of Manhattan Community College Rocket League squad Angel Castillo (Trappyy)Rodolfo Gonzalez (ThroneRL), and Michael Sing (A1Apostle) balled out on Championship Sunday, first punching their ticket to the program's first-ever title game. The Panthers showed no signs of fear in their first title game giving second-seeded Wake Technical Community College all they could handle before the Eagles pulled away in the last two games to win the NJCAAE Esports Championship 4-2.

Sophomore Ryan Urena, the only Super Smash Brothers Ultimate individual, made waves on Sunday as well, defeating Suffolk County Community College in the fourth round 3-1 before being defeated in three straight games in Round five against Garden City Community College.

The Panthers Rocket League squad came out firing in the championship game in the first game as Gonzalez buried the game-winner at the 3:14 mark to make it 1-0, and the Panthers held their lead all the way until the end of the first five minutes to a taking game one. Wake Tech came back with a ferocious response with a 3-0 victory in game two to even the series up at one.

Borough of Manhattan opened the scoring in game four at the 4:34 mark before Wake Tech knotted the game up at one at 3:15 before Sing notched the go-ahead tally at 2:30 to make it 2-1 Panthers. After the Eagles evened it up at two at 2:21 make, Gonzalez netted his second game-winning goal of the championship, finding the back of the cage at the 3:11 mark of overtime to give BMCC a two games to one lead in the series.

The Eagles responded right away in game four, burying the first two goals at the 4:56 mark to make it 1-0 and the second with 48 seconds to go to make it 2-0 before two Castillo goals with 41 and 20 seconds remaining helped the Panthers force overtime. Wake Tech and BMCC had numerous chances for the winner in the extra period. However, with 32 seconds to go, the Eagles made the most of their final opportunity, grabbing the game-winner with 32 seconds to go to tie-up series at two games apiece.

Gonzalez rallied the Panthers back in Game five to tie it a one with 3:30 to go, but BMCC again could not connect in overtime, instead watching the team on the other side get the winner at 1:32 of overtime to go up three games to two.

The Panthers would not make it easy for the Eagles in game six. Castillo scored at the 3:57 mark to give BMCC the early 1-0 lead, but Wake Tech closed it out strong with two straight goals, with the equalizer coming with 59 seconds left to tie it at one and 12 seconds later with the winner to give the Eagles a 2-1 victory and the 2022 NJCAAE Fall Rocket League Championship four games to two.
