Kings Park, New York - The Borough of Manhattan Community College men's and women's cross country teams laced it up at the St. Joseph's Cross Country Invitational and Region 15 championship on Saturday in Sunken Meadow Park in Bethpage, New York. The Panthers held their own against a highly competitive field of Region 15 competition, with freshmen Trent Santoro and Gabriele Dos Santos Mello (New York, New York) earning medals for placing in the top seven in the 8k and 5k.
Santoro led the Men finishing 36th with a time of 30:45.43, while team captain Tatenda Chikanyairo crossed the tape with a time of 36:34.5.
De Los Santos spearheaded the women's team posting the top time crossing the finish line with a time of 30:37.0, while classmate Maria Torres (Bronx, New York) finished right after clocking in at 30:53.1, and Alyssa Abrahams (Kingston, Jamaica) came across with a time of 37:23.4.
The Panthers conclude their regular season in their first-ever CUNYAC CC Cross Country Championship Sunday, October 30, at 10:30 a.m. at Van Cortland Park in the Bronx, New York.
