New York, New York – Episode 12 of "Inside The Lair" is now available on Youtube and IGTV!

This week, we welcome former BMCC men's basketball player and three-year assistant coach Michael Hussein (Staten Island, NY). As an assistant coach Hussein was part of back-to-back CUNYAC Championship teams in 2018 and 2019 as an assistant coach and suited up for the program during the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons. 

The Staten Island native was a major compliment to the Panthers backcourt during his two seasons at BMCC. After an injury hampered his first year, he recorded career-bests in points (159), (58) rebounds, and assists (42) during his sophomore season.

Hussein got the chance to come back to BMCC as an assistant in 2016-17 and made an immediate impact on a coaching staff during his three seasons. He helped lead the Panthers to two straight 20 win seasons and back-to-back Conference titles in 2018 and 2019 while tutoring two NJCAA All-Americans, a back-to-back CUNYAC Player Of The Year Quran Dublin, and four CUNYAC All-Stars, including two-time selection Victor Kovacevic.

He talks with Sports Information Director John Kelly Jr. about his time on the court at BMCC, the family culture around the Panther men's basketball program, and the long-lasting relationships he has with his players that continue today.
